Homopolymers of this protein form a stable intracytoplasmic filamentous network connecting myofibrils to each other and to the plasma membrane. Diseases associated with DES includeMyopathy, Myofibrillar, 1andScapuloperoneal Syndrome, Neurogenic, Kaeser Type. Among its related pathways areAurora B signalingandArrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC).Desmin is a member of the intermediate filament protein, normally distributed in smooth muscle cells, myocardial cells, skeletal muscle cells and myoepithelial cells and tumors. It is mainly used for diagnosis and differential diagnosis of uterus, skin, gastrointestinal tract and other rhabdomyosarcoma and myoepithelioma. High temperature repair can enhance the staining intensity.
