Background:N- cadherin is a Ca2+ dependent transmembrane glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 140 kDa, which can promote and protection the cell adhesion. It is reported that N- cadherin express in many tissues, such as neurons, endothelial cells, muscle cells and some early hematopoietic progenitor cells. N- cadherin may also express in tissues of non-epithelial malignant tumors, including malignant mesothelioma, synovial sarcoma, malignant melanoma, epithelioid sarcoma, epithelioid angiosarcoma and clear cell sarcoma. Ovarian serous tumors and endometrial cancer are positive expression of N-cadherin, while ovarian mucinous tumor is negative expression of N-cadherin. N-cadherin is also expressed in renal cell carcinoma, medullary carcinoma of breast and carcinoma sareomatodes. This antibody can be used as one of index for identification of celiothelioma and adenocarcinoma.
