Background:CD38 is expressed on plasma cells, on early cells of B and T cell lineages, and on activated B and T cells. Approximately 60% of peripheral blood mononuclear CD34+ cells express CD38. The least mature CD34+ cells are characterized by a lack of CD38. The antibody is of value for immunophenotyping of acute leukemias, and in research studies on the role of activated T cells in immunodeficiency diseases and in autoimmune diseases.
