Pulmonary alveolar epithelial cells （PAEpiC） comprised of alveolar type I and type II epithelial cells, line more than 99％ of the internal surface area of the lung. Type I cells are large squamous cells whose thin cytoplasmic extensions cover ＆gt;95％.Rat Pulmonary alveolar epithelial cells are isolated from tissue of pathogen-free laboratory Sprague–Dawley （SD）. They are grown in T75 tissue culture flasks pre-coated with 0.2％ gelatin for 1 hour and incubated in Culture Complete Growth Medium.
