CIKS/Act1 interacts directly with IKK gamma and also activates activating transcription factor (ATF) and activator protein 1 (AP-1) through Jun kinase (JNK). CIKS/Act1 is associated with inflammation and stress responses and is expressed in a variety of human tissues.
