Specificity：Recognizes c-Kit (CD117, Steel factor receptor and stem cell factor receptor), a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase expressed by hematopoietic progenitor cell subsets and mast cells. The interaction of c-Kit and its ligand is required for normal hematopoiesis, mast cell differentiation, melanogenesis and gametogenesis. Mutations in KIT are associated with gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, acute myelogenous leukemia and piebaldism.
