The Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria is used as a fluorescent indicator for monitoring gene expression in a variety of cellular systems, including living organisms and fixed tissues.
Unlike other bioluminescent reporters, GFP fluoresces in the absence of substrates, cofactors or other intrinsic or extrinsic proteins.
Purified GFP is a 27kD monomer consisting of 246 amino acids.
It emits green light (emission maximum at 509nm) when excited with blue or UV light.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:ELISA (Sandwich or capture): 1:10,000-1:50,000
Western Blot: 1:2000-1:5000
Immunohistochemistry: 1:500-1:2000
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Source:Tissue culture supernatant
Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
