• Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), also known as corticotropin, is a polypeptide tropic hormone produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland.
• It is an important component of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and is often produced in response to biological stress (along with its precursor corticotropin-releasing hormone from the hypothalamus).
• Its principal effects are increased production and release of corticosteroids.
• A deficiency of ACTH is a cause of secondary adrenal insufficiency and an excess of it is a cause of Cushing's disease
• Applications:Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, ELISA and other solid-phase assays.
• Other applications have not been tested.
• Recommended Dilutions:Immunohistochemistry: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue
• Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
• Affinity Constant:>10e11 L/mole
• Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
• Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
• Store at -20°C.
• Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
• For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
