The Thomsen-Fridenreich antigen acts as an oncofetal antigen, with low expression in normal adult tissues but increasing to fetal levels of expression in hyperplasia or malignancy.2-4 It is considered as a pan-carcinoma marker.
Can be applied for the detection of cells with TF-antigen and is especially applicable for sensitive determination of neuraminidases.
