• FGF basic (FGF2) is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family.
• FGF family members bind heparin and possess broad mitogenic and angiogenic activities.
• FGF2 is involved in diverse biological processes, such as limb and nervous system development, wound healing, and tumor growth.
• FGF2 mRNA contains multiple polyadenylation sites, and is alternatively translated from AUG and non-AUG (CUG) initiation codons resulting in five different isoforms with distinct properties.
• The CUG-initiated isoforms are localized in the nucleus and are responsible for the intracrine effect, whereas, the AUG-initiated form is mostly cytosolic and is responsible for the paracrine and autocrine effects of this FGF.
• Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
• Other applications not tested.
• Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detects 100ng basic FGF.
• Basic FGF was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with F4210-21 (1ug/ml).
• Proteins were visualized using an IgG (HRP) goat anti-mouse and a chemiluminescence detection system.
• Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 10ug/ml
• Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): Fix with ice-cold, ethanol:acetic acid (95:5).
• Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

• Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
• For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
