The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), also called human herpesvirus 4 (HHV-4), is a virus of the herpes family, which includes herpes simplex virus 1 and 2, and is one of the most common viruses in humans.
It is best known as the cause of infectious mononucleosis.
It is also associated with particular forms of cancer, particularly Hodgkin's lymphoma, Burkitt's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and central nervous system lymphomas associated with HIV.
To infect B cells, the gp350 viral protein binds to the cellular receptor complement receptor 2 (CR2), and triggers endocytosis.
To infect epithelial cells, gp350 also binds to CR2; however, endocytosis is not triggered.
Applications:Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
