This Rat Thyrotropin subunit beta (Tshb) DNA sequence encoding aa21-132 to generate a fusion protein with an N-terminal 10xHis-Tag and a C-terminal Myc-Tag. The resulting recombinant full-length of mature protein was produced in the Baculovirus. It was subjected to SDS-PAGE (15% gel) under reducing conditions and presented a molecular mass band of about 19kD on the gel. The purity of the Tshb protein is greater than 85%. In addition to specific antibody synthesis, this recombinant Tshb protein may be used in the studies of Tshb-involved cancers.
Tshb, together with Tsha, makes up the thyrotropin (TSH). Tshb determines the specificity of TSH, which is responsible for the activation of the thyroid gland, playing a key role in controlling development and metabolism in mammals and other vertebrates. TSH is also involved in the specific developmental processes such as larval metamorphosis in amphibians, as well as larval and secondary metamorphoses in some teleost species. Additionally, TSH may regulate the functions in immune or reproductive systems through pleiotropic effects and multiple target tissues of thyroid hormones.

Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
