• TIM-3, also known as HAVCR2 (Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 2), belongs to TIM family cell surface receptor proteins. TIM-3 is up‑regulated on several populations of activated myeloid cells and T cells. It is an immune checkpoint and together with other inhibitory receptors including PD-1and LAG3 mediate the CD8+ T-cell exhaustion. Also, it is primarily activated by galectin-9. The engagement leads to stimulation of an influx of calcium to intracellular space and induction of programmed cell death, apoptosis. As a consequence, a suppression of Th1 and Th17 responses and induction of immune tolerance occurs.

• Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
