• Keratins (cytokeratins) are intermediate filament proteins that are mainly expressed in epithelial cells. Keratin heterodimers composed of an acidic keratin (or type I keratin, keratins 9 to 23) and a basic keratin (or type II keratin, keratins 1 to 8) assemble to form filaments. Keratin isoforms demonstrate tissue- and differentiation-specific profiles that make them useful as research biomarkers. Research studies have shown that mutations in keratin genes are associated with skin disorders, liver and pancreatic diseases, and inflammatory intestinal diseases.

• Intended Use:The Cytokeratin Antibody Sampler BioAssay™ Kit provides an economical means to evaluate the presence and status of selected keratin proteins. The kit provides enough primary and secondary antibodies to perform two Western blot experiments per primary antibody.

• Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

• Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
