- N5-Methyl Eflornithine is an impurity of Eflornithine (E436000); an irreversible inhibitor of ornithine decarboxylase which is an enzyme involved in polyamine biosynthesis. Eflornithine is also an antineoplastic, antipneumocystic, and antiprotozoal (Trypanosoma) that is used in the treatment of hirsutism.
