• 5,7-Dinitro-8-quinolinol is a useful synthetic intermediate. It has been reported that 5,7-dinitro-8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives exhibit higher antimycobacterial activity than ciprofloxacin (C482500) against M. abscessus and M. Smegmatis. In addition, 5,7-Dinitro-8-quinolinol has been employed to investigate structure-activity relationships of nitroxoline derivatives that may provide new insights on developing novel cathepsin B inhibitors.
