- 5-(Bromomethyl)pyrimidine is a reagent used for benzylation during the synthesis of 11C-labeled thiamine and fursultiamine, a prodrug of vitamin B1. Also, it is used for the synthesis of 5-Pyrimidinemethanol (P997320), which is a reagent used in the synthesis of melanin-concentrating hormone receptor 1 antagonists. Also, used in the preparation of annulated 5-aryl-substituted pyridines.
