2-(Benz-d5-hydrylthio)acetamide is a labeled analogue of modafinil (M482500), an α-1-adrenergic agonist. Modafinil is a CNS stimulant; psychostimulant that displays neuroprotective and antiparkinsonian activity in a primate model of Parkinson's disease. Activates phasic dopamine signaling in dorsal and ventral straita (1). Promotes vigilance and wakefulness via modulation of catecholamine/GABAergic neurotransmission (2).
