The resulting antigen preparation contains a high concentration of virus and viral components as well as some cellular material suspended in MEM. Measles is part of the family Paramyxoviridae, Morbillivirus; It is a 300 nm diameter, enveloped; single-stranded RNA. Acute disease with prodromal fever, conjunctivitis, coryza, cough and Koplik spots on the buccal mucosa; red blotchy rash appears in 3 –7 days, beginning on the face and becoming generalized, lasting 4 – 7 days; leukopenia; more severe in infants and adults; bacterial superinfection.
Source:Measles, strain Edmonston, from Vero cells.
Applications:Suitable for use in both IgG and IgM detection in assays which include EIA with polystyrene and latex solid phases. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Inactivation:Mealses antigen is inactivated using gamma radiation. This procedure is effective primarily by damaging viral genetic material.
Storage and Stability:Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
