Calcineurin is a kind of serine/threonine protein phosphatase regulated by Ca2+/camodulin, which exists widely in tissue cells of mammals. As an effector molecule of Ca2+ downstream signal, calcineurin participates in the regulation of numerous cell functions. It plays a role in regulating the signal transduction of T cells activation as well as the release and synaptic plasticity of neurotransmitter. Recent studies show that CaN plays a central role in the occurrence and development of cardiac hypertrophy.
