Butyrylcholinesterase is also called pseudo-cholinesterase and serum cholinesterase. It is synthesized by liver cells and secreted into the blood, which mainly exist in liver, serum and lymph. Butyrylcholinesterase protein is a tetramer. The four structural subunits are exactly the same and each containing 574aa. Besides, each subunit combines with 9 sugar chain, which accounts for 23.9% of the subunit molecular mass. Butyrylcholinesterase belongs to B-esterase, and plays an important role in the detoxification of organic phosphorus. By combining with organic phosphorus, it reduces dissociative organic phosphorus which can combine with acetylcholinesterase in blood, so as to alleviate the poisoning symptoms caused by the accumulation of acetylcholine and provide the detoxification effect indirectly.
Sample Type:Animal tissue, serum, plasma, whole blood and cultured cells, and cell culture supernatant.
