Galnt1, also known as polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 1, is a member of the UDP-N- acetyl-alpha-D-galactosamine:polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase (GalNAc-T) family of enzymes. It catalyzes the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, the transfer of an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine residue to a serine or threonine residue on the protein receptor. Also, this protein is involved in the glycosylation of proteins essential for bone formation such as osteopontin and bone sialoprotein. Recombinant mouse Galnt1 protein, fused to His-Tag at C-terminal, expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
