• Nt5e, also known as 5'-nucleotidase, is the main enzyme responsible for conversion of AMP into the immunosuppressive molecule adenosine. It was demonstrated to play a direct role in tumor progression including regulation of tumor vascularization. It is of general functional importance for the metabolism of nucleotides at the ventricular surface of the retina as well as the ventricles of the brain, a feature that is maintained throughout development.
