CD79A, also known as B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein alpha chain isoform 1, is a membrane-spanning, signal-transducing components of the B-cell receptor. It plays multiple and diverse roles in B cell development and function. It can be a cause of agammaglobulinemia. It is upregulated on MDSCs and activated in response to soluble factors secreted by tumor cells. It plays a functional role in the tumor promoting effects of myeloid cells, and may represent a novel target for cancer therapy.
