• Human IGF-BP3, also known as growth-hormone-dependant binding protein, is a 28.9kD cysteine-rich secreted protein. It is the major IGF binding protein present in the plasma of human and animals. In addition to its ability to modulate the activity of IGF-I and IGF-2, IGF-BP3 also exerts inhibitory effects on follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) activity. Decreased plasma levels of IGF-BP3 often results in dwarfism, whereas elevated levels of IGF-BP3 may lead to acromegaly. The expression of IGF-BP3 in fibroblasts is stimulated by mitogenic growth factors such as Bombesin, Vasopressin, PDGF, and EGF.

• Biological Activity:The ED50 was determined by its ability to inhibit IGF-II induced proliferation of MCF-7. The expected ED50 for this effect is <0.2ug/ml in presence of 15ng/ml of human IGF-II, corresponding to a specific activity of ＞5000IU/mg.

• Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O, 0.1% BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
