特徴

• Oligosaccharide domain of the monosialylated glycosphingolipid GM1, which is a major ganglioside in neuronal and glial membranes in the central nervous system. GM1 oligosaccharide interacts and modulates tyrosine kinases such as neural tropomyosin receptor kinase A (TrkA) and the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). The compound is also found in epithelial membranes and is a key element for bacterial toxicity and viral infection since it acts as a receptor for the B-subunits of heat labile toxin, cholera toxin, rotavirus, and simian virus 40. It also has the ability to bind amyloid-β proteins and is involved in Alzheimer’s pathogenesis.
