• DL-1,2-Hexanediol is a skin-conditioning agent that has synergistic effects with cationic surfactants. It increases the hydrophobicity of the skin and enhances the binding of antimicrobial agents to skin cells. DL-1,2-Hexanediol also stimulates epidermal growth factor (EGF) production in human keratinocytes (HK-2) and may be useful for treating wounds or burns. The hydroxyl group on hexanediol provides a hydrophobic effect that is beneficial for skin care.
