The major toxic constituent of the mushroom, Amanita phalloides. Inhibitor of RNA polymerase II. Inhibits transcription in eukaryotic cells. Binds and blocks the largest subunits of RNA polymerase II, preventing new ribonucleotides from incorporating into the nascent RNA chain. Potent amatoxin.
Solubility:Soluble to 5mM in ethanol and to 5mM in water
Storage and Stability:Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. In lyophilized form, the chemical is stable for 36 months. In solution, store at -20ºC and use within 3 months to prevent loss of potency. Aliquot to avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
