特徴

• This gene encodes the soluble mannose-binding lectin or mannose-binding protein found in serum. The protein encoded belongs to the collectin family and is an important element in the innate immune system. The protein recognizes mannose and N-acetylglucosamine on many microorganisms, and is capable of activating the classical complement pathway. Deficiencies of this gene have been associated with susceptibility to autoimmune and infectious diseases.

• Specificity:This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human MBP/MBL. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human MBP/MBL and analogues was observed.
• Test Principle:This BioAssay™ employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. An antibody specific for MBP/MBL has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any MBP/MBL present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MBP/MBL is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MBP/MBL bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
