A relatively potent and selective antagonist for group I mGlu receptor subtype 1 (pKB = 3.4 for mGlu1a). Complete absence of interacting with on group II or III mGluRs, or ionotropic glutamate receptors. Widely used in studying neural plasticity, learning and memory, and fear conditioning. Centrally active following systemic administration in vivo.
