Stem Cell Factor (SCF) is a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of mast cells. SCF also mediates cell-cell adhesion and acts synergistically with other cytokines. The actions of SCF are exerted by binding to the SCF Receptor (PE-1243-50) which results in receptor dimerization. SCF is a type I membrane glycoprotein with 5 potential N-linked glycosylation sites. Soluble SCF is produced by proteolytic cleavage of the extracellular domain.
Stem Cell Factor, from Human DNA sequence encoding the signal peptide and the mature Stem Cell Factor (SCF) protein of human SCF was expressed in modified human 293 cells.
Molecular Weight:~20kD-42kD with post-translation modification and ~21kD unmodified
Biological Activity:The ED50 of SCF is typically 10-20ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using the human growth factor-dependent M-07e cell line.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
