Inhibin beta B, otherwise known as Activin B, is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-B) family, which signals through the ActRII receptor (Activin Receptor type II), and acts as a regulator of hormone secretion from the pituitary, hypothalamic and gonadal glands. Inhibin beta B is a homodimer of the inhibin/activin beta-B chain, and is involved in several aspects of embryonic development, as well as haematopoiesis and osteogenesis, and also acts as a modulator of FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) secretion and haemoglobin synthesis.
