Creatine Kinase BB is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. The encoded protein reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate between ATP and various phosphogens such as creatine phosphate. It acts as a homodimer in brain as well as in other tissues, and as a heterodimer with a similar muscle isozyme in heart. The encoded protein is a member of the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase protein family. A pseudogene of this gene has been characterized. Reacts with polyclonal antibodies to BB isoenzyme in ELISA.
Source:Recombinant protein corresponding to human CKBBI, a glycosylated polypeptide chain with an identical aa sequence to the native enzyme, expressed in Pichia pastoris.
Biological Activity:Measured by the enzymatic activity of creatine phosphokinase procedure No.45-UV, 1IU-1umole creatine phosphate was 500 IU/mg at 37°C.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
