• The inflammasome is a multiprotein complex that mediates the activation of caspase-1, which promotes, amongst others, the secretion of the proinflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-1beta and IL-18. Members of the Nod-like receptor family (NLRs), including NLRP3/NALP3, are critical components of the inflammasome that link danger-signals to caspase-1 activation. Defects in NLRP3 are the cause of familial cold autoinflammatory syndrome type 1 (FCAS1), Muckle-Wells syndrome (MWS) and of chronic infantile neurologic cutaneous and articular syndrome (CINCA). Pyrin domain-containing protein 1 (POP1) interacts with the protein Asc (Pycard) and modulates the interaction of Asc to NLR proteins.

• Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
