Pituitary Extract, bovine (PEX) is an extract of bovine pituitary tissue containing growth factors. PEX can be used to promote the growth of several types of human epithelial cells in culture. Pituitary extract, bovine, is prepared using a modification of a published procedure.
Prepared fresh, unfrozen glands to ensure maximal mitogenic response. It is not lyophilized, as this process has been shown to reduce biological activity. This product is an aqueous extract formulated at 14mg/mL crude protein.
Optimal Medium Supplementation Rate:35ug/ml. Different cell types may require adjusted supplementation levels.

Storage and Stability:Bovine Pituitary Gland Extract is not sterile as shipped, and must be sterile-filtered before use
Powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
