alpha-Mannosidase (AMA) is an enzyme which catalyzes the cleavage of the alpha form of mannose. alpha-Mannosidase assists in the breakdown of complex sugars from glycoproteins in the lysosome. Defective AMA or deficient AMA activity causes alpha-Mannosidase and leads to deterioration of the central nervous system in children. Nonradioactive, colorimetric AMA assay is based on the cleavage of 4-nitrophenol from the synthetic substrate. Nitrophenol becomes intensely colored after addition of the stop reagent. The increase in absorbance at 405nm after addition of the stop reagent is directly proportional to the enzyme activity.

Storage and Stability:Store powder at 4°C liquid at -20°C. Store other components at 4°C. Stable for at least 6 months For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
