Cell-permeable. A nitric oxide (NO) independent, superoxide- sensitive soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) activator (EC50 = 18uM). Induces concentration-dependent increase in cGMP levels in cultured cells and in rabbit aortic rings. Inhibits platelet adhesion to collagen. A non-specific phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor. YC-1 also inhibits HIF-alpha activity in tumors resulting in blocked angiogenesis and an inhibition of tumor growth. Inhibits Na+ channel.

Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with DMSO or EtOH. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
