ASGR2 is a subunit of the asialoglycoprotein receptor. This receptor is a transmembrane protein that plays a critical role in serum glycoprotein homeostasis by mediating the endocytosis and lysosomal degradation of glycoproteins with exposed terminal galactose or N-acetylgalactosamine residues. It may facilitate hepatic infection by multiple viruses including hepatitis B, and is also a target for liver-specific drug delivery. ASGR2 is a hetero-oligomeric protein composed of major and minor subunits, which are encoded by different genes. ASGR2 is the less abundant minor subunit. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.

Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
