TGF beta is a multifunctional peptide that controls proliferation, differentiation, and other functions in many cell types. TGFB acts synergistically with TGFA in inducing transformation. It also acts as a negative autocrine growth factor. Dysregulation of TGFB activation and signaling may result in apoptosis. Many cells synthesize TGFB and almost all of them have specific receptors for this peptide. It plays an important role in bone remodeling. It is a potent stimulator of osteoblastic bone formation, causing chemotaxis, proliferation, and differentiation in committed osteoblasts.
Recombinant protein corresponding to aa30-390 from human TGFb1 fused to His-tag at N-terminal and disulfide-linked homodimers of TGFb1 LAP and mature TGFb1 expressed in FreeStyle 293-F cells.
Molecular Weight:~75kD and ~25kD under non-reducing conditions
Biological Activity:Measured by TGFb1's ability to inhibit mIL-4-dependent proliferation of HT-2 mouse helper T cells. The ED50 is <0.5ng/ml.
Applications:Suitable for use in cell cultures and for the study of signaling and apoptotic pathways. Other applicaions not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -70°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -70°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS, 0.1% BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -70°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -70°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
