Platencin is a more potent analogue of Platensimycin also discovered from a strain of Streptomyces platensis. Platencin shows potent in vivo efficacy without any observed toxicity. Platencin targets two essential proteins, β-ketoacyl-acyl carrier protein (ACP) synthase II (FabF) and III (FabH) whereas platensimycin targets only FabF.

Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
