Phenelfamycin E is the major analogue of the phenelfamycin complex produced by several species of Strepyomyces. The phenelfamycins are potent antibiotics with good activity against Gram +ve bacteria, nobably Clostridium difficile, however phenelfamycin E has received little attention in the literature.

Solubility:Soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF or DMSO. Limited water solubility.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
