TFF1 (Trefoil factor 1) is member of trefoil family, characterized by having at least one copy of the trefoil motif, a 40-amino acid domain that contains three conserved disulfides. Trefoil peptides are protease resistant molecules secreted throughout the gut that play a role in mucosal healing. TFF1 has also been detected in a number of carcinomas including cancers of the breast, pancreas and stomach. Purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
