CBX1 is a member of the heterochromatin protein family and enriched in the heterochromatin and associated with centromeres. It is recognizes and binds histone H3 tails methylated at 'Lys-9', leading to epigenetic repression. Interaction with lamin B receptor (LBR) can contribute to the association of the heterochromatin with the inner nuclear membrane. This protein may play an important role in the epigenetic control of chromatin structure and gene expression. Purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
Source:Recombinant corresponding to aa1-185 of human CBX1, fused to His-tag at N-terminal, expressed in E.coli.
Molecular Weight:~23.6kD (205aa), confirmed by MALDI-TOF (Molecular weight on SDS-PAGE will appear higher)
