TAGLN is a transformation and shape-change sensitive actin cross-linking/gelling protein that belongs to the calponin family. This protein is expressed abundantly in fibroblasts and smooth muscle. It is involved in calcium interactions and contractile properties of the cell that may contribute to replicative senescence. During embryogenesis, TAGLN is expressed in smooth, cardiac and skeletal muscle, but is restricted during late fetal development and adulthood to all vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells and low levels of expression in heart. It is downregulated in several transformed cell lines, indicating that a reduction of TAGLN expression may be an early indicator of the onset of transformation.

Storage and Stability::May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
