6-Pyruvoyltetrahydropterin synthase (PTS), also known as PTPS, belongs to the family of lyases, specifically those carbon-oxygen lyases acting on phosphates. The enzyme encoded by this gene catalyzes the elimination of inorganic triphosphate from dihydroneopterin triphosphate, which is the second and irreversible step in the biosynthesis of tetrahydrobiopterin from GTP. Tetrahydrobiopterin, also known as BH(4), is an essential cofactor and regulator of various enzyme activities, including enzymes involved in serotonin biosynthesis and NO synthase activity. Mutations in this gene result in hyperphenylalaninemia.
Recombinant human PTS, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Enzyme Activity:Not determined. This product is recommended for use in applications that do not require a catalytically active form of the protein.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
