Recombinant Human FGF-basic (FGF-2) is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 155aa and having a molecular weight of 17.3kD. The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined to be Ala-Glu-Gly-Glu-Ile.

Activity:The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent proliferation of BAF3 cells expressing FGF receptors (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is <0.5ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 2x10e6 Units/mg.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
