This glycosylated interferon is constitutively produced by Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells transfected with the chromosomal gamma interferon gene of the rat. This ultra pure product is intended for laboratory use in in vitro assay systems or in experimental animals. Biological activity has been demonstrated in both rat and mouse systems.
The major advantage of CHO-cell derived recombinant rat gamma interferon over natural rat gamma interferon, is the absence of contaminating lymphokines. This ensures that the effects observed in experimental results can be attributed exclusively to the rat gamma interferon used.
Source:Rat, CHO-derived
Unit Definition:One unit of Rat Gamma Interferon approximates the bioactivity contained in one unit of the rat gamma interferon standard prepared by the TNO laboratory.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized and reconstituted products may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. For dilutions use protein stabilized phosphate buffered saline, pH 8. (Do not use fresh serum). Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
