Glycine N-methyltransferase, also known as GNMT, catalyzes the synthesis of N-methylglycine (sarcosine) from glycine using S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) as the methyl donor. This protein affects DNA methylation by regulating the ratio of S-adenosylmethionine to S-adenosylhomocystine and participates in the detoxification pathway in liver cells. Also it is reported that GNMT expression is diminished in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Enzyme Activity:Not determined. This product is recommended for use in applications that do not require a catalytically active form of the protein.
Endotoxin: ≤1.0 EU/ug of protein (determined by LAL method)
Storage and Stability:For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
