• CD105 (26-176 a.a.) or Endoglin or GP160 is a Type I transmembrane protein, which is highly expressed on human vascular endothelial cells, activated macrophages, fibroblasts, and smooth muscle cells. It exists as an O- and N-glycosylated homodimer of 180kD. Up-regulation of endoglin expression has been demonstrated in tumor vasculature and proliferating cells, suggesting that it is a proliferation-associated endothelial cell marker. Endoglin has been found to be part of the TGF-beta1 receptor complex. It thus may be involved in the binding of TGF-beta1, TGF beta3, activin-A, BMP-2, and BMP-7. CD105 binds to TGF Beta1 and Beta3 with high affinity but not TGF-Beta2Beside TGF-beta signaling endoglin may have other functions. It has been postulated that endoglin is involved in the cytoskeletal organization affecting cell morphology and migration. Endoglin has a role in the development of the cardiovascular system and in vascular remodeling. Its expression is regulated during heart development. Experimental mice without the endoglin gene die due to cardiovascular abnormalities.
• CD105 Human Recombinant extracellular domain produced in baculovirus is a homodimeric, glycosylated, polypeptide containing 586 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 61kD but as a result of glycosylation, migrates at 90kD under reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.
• Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Inhibition Assays and Western Blot. Other applicatios not tested.
• Biological Activity:Measured by its ability to bind with rhTGF-beta RII/Fc in a functional ELISA.
• Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with PBS, 0.1% HSA or BSA. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
