Casein Kinase 2 (CK2, also called PKCK2) is a ubiquitous Ser/Thr kinase expressed in all eukaryotes. CK2 is a tetramer composed of two catalytic kinase domains, alpha subunits, and two identical regulatory beta subunits. It has been implicated in cell cycle control, DNA repair, regulation of the circadian rhythm, and other cellular processes. The beta subunit itself does not have kinase activity, but confers stability to the CK2 alpha subunit and is involved in activity and substrate specificity. Recombinant human CK2β was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
Enzyme Activity:Not determined. This product is recommended for use in applications that do not require a catalytically active form of the protein.
Storage and Stability:For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
